Job Title: Interim Golf Course Superintendent (Contract)

Location: The Rio Grande Club and Resort South Fork, CO

Contract Term: 3–5 Months, or As Needed

Compensation: Competitive contract rate based on experience

Position Overview

The Rio Grande Club and Resort is seeking an experienced Interim Golf Course Superintendent to provide leadership and oversight of golf course maintenance operations during an interim period. This contract position is responsible for maintaining course conditions, managing maintenance staff, coordinating agronomic programs, and ensuring efficient daily operations.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong turfgrass management expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to quickly assess and improve operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

· Direct all golf course maintenance and grounds operations.

· Develop and implement agronomic programs for turfgrass health and playability.

· Supervise, schedule, and mentor maintenance staff.

· Manage irrigation systems, water usage, and related maintenance.

· Oversee pesticide and fertilizer applications in compliance with applicable regulations.

· Monitor course conditions and recommend improvements.

Prepare and manage maintenance budgets and purchasing activities.

· Coordinate with golf operations, management, and outside vendors.

· Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

· Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.

· Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and golf course maintenance practices.

· Valid pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain/transfer as required).

· Experience managing maintenance teams and budgets.

· Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.

· Experience serving in interim, consulting, or turnaround superintendent roles.

Contract Details

· Independent contractor engagement.

· Expected commitment: 30-40 hours per week and additional as needed.

· Start date: Immediate
